Who are we?

Wild by Design is a network of talented tourism consultants, adventure professionals and local operators connected and facilitated by Tasmanian adventurer, Chris Jones. We thrive on the challenge of working with local communities to craft new and exciting experiences, facilitate interesting & worthy projects and host expedition style adventures. We're not interested in mass tourism, large bus tours or similar monstrosities. We specialize in providing personalized service for destinations we know intimately.

Meet Jonesy

Chris Jones (Jonesy) has made travel & tourism his life. First travelling to the Himalaya in 1997, he has returned almost every year since to work, live and play. An accomplished expedition kayaker and expedition leader in a range of disciplines, he backs up his practical skills with a strong business and academic back ground. He has successfully turned his passion for adventure into a successful career.

Chris has guided extensively across the Himalaya, Antarctica, Canada, Australia and the European Alps.  In 2003 Chris began training the first Tibetan river guides and established the first whitewater outfitter in Tibet. These days, whitewater journeys are just a small part of the range of adventures Chris now facilitates. Passionate about the environment and sustainable development, Chris hopes that Wild by Design can contribute to creating a better future for local communities in the destinations we love to visit.
