Film Projects

Over the years my team and I have worked on a wide range of adventure orientated films. We’ve provided location services in Canada, Tibet, Bhutan, Antarctica and Tasmania; From the "Gourmet Farmer” and Hydro Tasmania to Discovery Channel and the Himalayas, I have an incredible network of talented adventure film professionals I can engage to provide a range of technical and creative skills.

  • The Wildest Dream - Feature Documentary

    Working with Director Anthony Geffen and presenter Gerry Moffatt, we provided logistical support for the production of The Wildest Dream, a feature documentary about George Mallory who disappeared on Mount Everest in 1924 The film interweaves two stories, one about climber Conrad Anker (who discovered Mallory's body on Everest in 1999) and the other a biography of Mallory told through letters, original film footage from the 1920s and archival photos. We facilitated and hosted an expedition to Everest Base Camp for sponsors and executive production members of the film crew.

  • Kayaks on the Roof of the World Independant Documentary

    An award winning independent documentary about the first Tibetan kayakers written, produced, filmed and edit by my then adventure travel company - Griffon Expeditions and our media co-company Griffon Media. This film project grew out of a incredible opportunity to paddle the Parlung Tsangpo - a major tributary of the Yarlung Tsangpo/Brahmaputra on the Tibetan plateau. We spent 4 weeks in and round Lhasa then journeyed out to Eastern Tibet where we paddled and filmed over 180kms of wild whitewater from the river’s source at Rawuk Tso to its confluence with the Po Tsangpo.

  • The Journey - Independant Documentary

    An Award winning documentary film about Paul Pritchard's recumbent trike 'pilgrimage' to Mount Everest. After a catastophic climbing accident changed Paul’s life as profiessional climber he returns to the Himalaya with a new set of challanges. Accompanied by Carol Hurst the ride took us on an epic 1150km journey across the Himalaya from Lhasa to Kathmandu via Everest Base Camp. On a tight budget we provided all logistics in Tibet and Nepal, including permits, guides expedition staff and project support from pre-project design and prepararation to post production.   • Globetrekker South Atlantic

    An epic film production job for UK production company Pilot Guides' Globe Trekker series. Chris coordinated all field logistics for the shoot and contributed background story research and creative content as well as expedition guiding and safety support for the entire shoot. Chris negotiated a sponsorship deal with One Oceans Expeditions securing berths on the expedition vessel Akademic Ioffe out of Ushuia, Argentina. The shoot began in the Falkland Islands before moving on to South Georgia film the mind blowing wildlife there and to tell Shackleton’s survival story. Upon arriving in Antarctica. We were lucky enough to also visit Elephant Island where Shackleton and his men were marooned.

  • Globetrekker Antarctica

    After filming Globetrekker South Atlantic, we transferred the crew to the expedition yacht Spirit of Sydney, We spent the next 3 weeks filming a range of adventure and scientific activities on the Antarctic Peninsula. We filmed a visit to Ukrainian science base Akademic Vernadsky, and the American base, Palmer. We attempted to climb Mt Scott, but turned back due to bad weather and dangerous crevasses. We explored by sea kayak and even dived to get underwater iceberg shots. We then sailed back across the Southern Ocean and were blessed with weather so calm we actually landed on Cape Horn!   • Expedition Bhutan - Discovery Channel

    Chris worked as guide and river safety staff on this expedition, working closely with the film crew to keep them safe and getting the shots they needed in a very challenging environment. Film Synopis: Adventurer Gerry Moffatt leads an expedition to the remote Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan. With special permission, the expedition travels through Bhutan, crossing mountain passes, visiting hidden medieval palaces and venturing into one of the most remote areas on earth accessible only by kayak and raft. This epic journey takes us into a world never seen by western eyes, exploring the hazardous canyons of the Mangde Chhu, an unmapped river flowing through the heart of Bhutan.
