Nepal was the birth place of adventure travel in Asia for a very good reason. When Hillary and Tenzing summited Everest in 1953 they opened a genie's bottle of adventure potential. Miles of Himalayan peaks, unexplored valleys, unique mountain cultures, raging rivers, jungle trails, lakes - Nepal has it all.

"15 years ago I announced to some friends that I was going to hitch-hike from Australia to Nepal (thats a whole story in its self!). They immediately warned me that hitching to Nepal wasn't a good idea. "Why?" I asked, expecting a list of reasons why hitching as dangerous. "Becasue if you go once, you'll fall in love wth the place and have to keep on going back!" They couldn't have been more astute and I've returned almost every year since. I usually live in Tibet for the summer months and as winter approaches in Tibet we drive across the plateau and down to Kathmandu. As we wind down the Bhote Kosi Valley, I can smell the thick humid air wafting up from Nepal, teasing my nose with wiffs of curry and jungle and the sensation of anticipation that a new adventure is about to begin is almost overwhelming: every time I arrive!"
